If it is a good low cost plan I would continue to keep it but as of right now I am not finding anything to really help me.

I am currently shopping out dental insurance. I need to get quotes on not only the cost of having a dental plan but what my cost would be for getting a crown down. I need the best dental plan for crowns. I know I need to have at least two. I have an old crown that is cracked and another one that is coming off all the time. I do not have any dental benefits and the cost of two crowns would be more then I can afford on my own.

Consult your dentist that gave you the retainer. Since you went so long with out wearing it, it may now not fit correctly. You also stated that it was made out of plastic. Plastic is porous so it retains dirt and stains. Using products that are not designed for retainers may not be a good idea either. Since a retainer is something you put in your mouth play it safe and get a new one.

California encore dental plan review: I reviewed the Encore dental insurance plan, which is underwritten by Stonebridge Life Insurance Company. Encore dental is a Preferred provider organization (PPO) insurance. First let me address what a PPO is.
Encore Dental Insurance Plan Summary
A PPO plan allows a particular group of patients to receive dental care from a specific panel of dentists. The participating dentist agrees to charge less than usual fees providing savings to you the patient. If the patient chooses to see a dentist who is not designated as a “preferred provider”, that patient may be required to pay a greater share of the fee-for-service.
How the PPO Works
A group of dentists agrees to provide services at a deeply discounted rate, giving you substantial savings — as long as you stay in their network. Unlike the more restrictive Dental Health Maintenance Organizations (DHMO), you can go outside of network and still receive reduced dental benefits. Some typical features of these plans would be an annual dollar cap, deductibles, waiting periods, and claim forms.
About Stonebridge Life Insurance Company

California Dental Plans Review, Dental Plan Decisions, Choosing the right plan: The dental plan decision making process is not an easy task when purchasing coverage for yourself, family, business, or your employees. There are many dental plan decisions to make. Such dental insurance decisions include considering a PPO (Preferred Provider Organizations), HMO (Health Maintenance Organization), dental indemnity insurance plans, and discount dental plans.
What is PPO Dental Insurance Plans?
PPO (Preferred Provider Organizations) is a network of dentist under contact with a dental insurance company which provides special rates on dental care; but the insured has an option to choose a dental care provider outside the network of dentists.
Generally the PPO dental insurance plans are higher premiums and there are claims forms to be completed by the dental client.
What is HMO Dental Insurance Plans?
HMO (Health Maintenance Organizations) are networks of dentist under contact with the dental insurance company that offer dental services at a pre-determined rate.
With the HMO dental insurance plan, you do not have the option to choose your own dentist. However, the HMO is usually less expensive.
What is Dental Indemnity Insurance Plans?
The dental indemnity insurance plans require the insured to pay the dentist of their choice directly, and the insured will be compensated or reimbursed by the insurance company after submitting a claims form.
What is Discount Dental Plans?
A discount dental plan provides discounted dental prices through a network of dentists but is not a dental insurance company and in not an insurance dental plan and is not regulated by the department of insurance.

California Dental Insurance plans, The Benefits of Dental Insurance: Dental insurance benefits vary depending on the type of dental insurance plan. When reviewing the benefits of dental insurance especially when selecting a dental insurance plan, keep in mind there are various policy coverage options, dental plan deductibles, co-payments, limitations, restrictions and exclusions. It is extremely important that you read the list of benefits provided by the dental insurance provider and be sure you are getting a dental insurance plan if that is what you wanted to purchase.
A reminder discount dental plans are not dental insurance plans. A discount plan partners with specific dentists to provide customers with a savings on visits to the dentist office much the same as dental insurance. The downside to discount dental plans is that they are not regulated and you have limited recourse if you experience dental problems.

California Indemnity Dental Insurance, Traditional Fee-for-Service Plan: Indemnity dental insurance is another plan where the plan pays the dentist on a traditional fee-for-service basis. Indemnity dental insurance is an insurance package where the policyholder can choose his or her own dentist and the insurance provider will be the one to pay that designated dentist your fees or, usually, around half of them. This indemnity dental insurance plan allows you to select any licensed dentist for service. An indemnity dental insurance plan is often called a traditional dental coverage plan or a fee for service plan. You will need to pay a deductible on your indemnity dental insurance.
Wednesday, Feb. 2nd 2011
This type of dental plan pays the dental office (dentist) on a traditional fee-for-service basis. A monthly premium is paid by the client and/or the employer to an insurance company, which then reimburses the dental office (dentist) for the services rendered. An insurance company usually pays between 50% – 80% of the dental office (dentist) fees for a covered procedures; the remaining 20% – 50% is paid by the client.
These plans often have a pre-determined or set deductible amount which varies from plan to plan. Indemnity plans also can limit the amount of services covered within a given year and pay the dentist based on a variety of fee schedules. Some typical features of these plans:
- High deductibles before coverage begins (well-designed plans don’t apply the deductible to preventive services)
- Probationary periods on certain procedures that last up to a year
- Annual dollar limit on benefits
- Chose your own dentist
- Your average monthly cost: $35+
- Companies selling these plans are regulated by state insurance departments.

I just got a dental insurance plan about two months ago. I got my ID cards in the mail and I went in for my first dental appointment in the past three years. I was really happy that I was going to finally have my teeth looked at. Well I was told for the most part I have really strong teeth but since I have not been to the dentist is a long time I have the starting of gingivitis. So I will be needed deep cleaning. Which I also found out that my dental insurance plan I got will not cover me for. That I have a year waiting period I did not know about for major dental work.
Now I have to pay out of pocket for my dental services and not sure if it is even worth keeping a dental plan that is going to make me wait a year for major dental work.

Questions about periodontal disease: How do you know if you have the start of periodontal disease? I thinking I may have it but I have not been to the dentist in a few years due to cost and not having any dental benefits with my job. However I also think that if I do have any periodontal issues it is not too bad right now. I just started to notice my gums are receding at the base of my bottom teeth. They also bleed every time I brush though I try not to brush too hard. However this is all I notice. How can you get treated for periodontal disease and is it very costly. What is the process like? Also is it too late to get dental insurance? If it can help me out any I would like to get some. I do not want my teeth to fall out.

California dental care, Braces, worried about white spots: I will be getting my braces taken off next week and I am worried I am going to have white spots. I do brush my teeth twice a day some time three if needed and my dentist never told me I needed to brush more or better but I am still worried about white spots or having two toned teeth.
Will whitening strips help to correct this issue or will the dentist whiten my teeth back to one color. I am not sure but after having braces for over three years I just want to have nice looking teeth with no funny white spots on them.

California dental health, When is the best time to brush your teeth: I am a single mom with a three year old and I am wanting to know when is the best time to be brushing his teeth. I though that the right time to brush is right after he has his breakfast but he is normally really fussy then. but I’m starting to think that it would be easier to brush his teeth before breakfast because he is not so awake and easier to deal with.
